I was excited to read this book after reading some of the previous reviews. What in world happened with this book? While the content and points may have been valid it was nearly impossible for me to get past the grammatical, spelling and formatting errors. Dozens of times in the book there are actual notes from the editor saying things like “don’t say that” or “clarify that statement”, etc. Did the wrong copy go to press? The author claims to be an expert in the subject but I would have to call that into question based on this product.

A goldmine of useful information severely let down by an unbelievable number of typographical errors (Kindle version).

NOTE: It appears that there are often formatting issues with Kindle books so this may not be problem in the printed version.

This book does an excellent job of covering a lot of what you need to know about SEO. It explains what you need to know about every part of SEO, SEM, and the new term SMO. It also gives good advice for those with novice to intermediate SEO knowledge who want to understand the big picture of how SEO works and get acquainted with many of the online resources. I like the easy reading style of the book showing step-by-step instructions using actual computer screen images of everything you need to know.

This book is Ok overall but it does not seem like it is finished, there are a lot of phrases which do not make sense and there are comments in between parentheses that say that the phrases did not make sense or contradicts other phrase said previously in the text(comments from the editor?)

Also the fact that Yahoo will use the Microsoft technology in search technology and other things are repeated a lot in the book.

But overall I’ve learned some things from it so it’s ok.

As a website designer and SEO specialist I preorder Mike Monahan’s book each year because he is the most up to date on all the search engine algorithm changes. And without exception getting this book right away has helped me answer a question I had about why some of my customers websites are quickly falling off the search engines like flies even though they are optimized. At least optimized for last years rules and not the latest. I find the value of the information in this book a thousand times the cost of this book for me. I like to keep up on the latest SEO tips and strategies.

As for those that are new to SEO, this book focuses on creating findable websites that are not just optimized for search engines but are accessible, usable, and it gives valueable informative, pertinent content before anything else. There are also lots of tips and tricks for people who like them and also insights into how to use Google Analytics. So you won’t be disappointed if you are a newbie to SEO. I find this book standing in stark contrast to most other “SEO” books. This book clearly states what it takes to build and optimize findable websites without resorting to jargon or marketing gimmicks.

    God bless.
